The Gifted Tree has gift tree planting projects in three areas of California – Northern, Lake Tahoe area, and Southern. Scroll down to learn about each project, and take a virtual tour. You will designate which project you want to plant in on the order form.
“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.” – John Muir
Northern California
Klamath National Forest, California
Project Description
The Gifted Tree’s planting project is in the Klamath National Forest in California.
The Klamath National Forest is located in northern California (with a small portion of the forest extending into southern Oregon) and covers 1,700,000 acres. In the lower elevations, one finds park-like stands of Ponderosa Pines, while in the higher elevations, the Douglas fir, subalpine fir and mixed conifer stands are plentiful. Old growth forest is estimated to cover some 168,000 acres of the forest land.
With the Klamath, Salmon and Scott Rivers meandering from one end of the forest to the other, this beautiful “playground” is a haven for campers, hikers, wildlife watchers, hunters, fishermen, mountain bikers, white water enthusiasts and naturalists.

area as well as its location in Northern California, the United States, and the world. Please understand that this is the
general area of the tree planting. Your tree will be planted among thousands of other gift trees and
there is no plaque designating the gift tree and visiting the tree is unfortunately not possible.
Know that the tree planting project is making a monumental difference for the earth and
opening a new doorway to the world for future generations. If you have any questions, please

Lake Tahoe Area
Eldarado National Forest, California
Project Description
The Gifted Tree’s gift tree planting project is in the fire scared areas around Eldorado National Forest.
Eldorado National Forest is located in the central Sierra Nevada mountain range, in eastern California near
Lake Tahoe. With the recent proliferation of forest fires in the area, reforestation of these burn scars is
essential to prevent erosion and to create habitat for the many species of wildlife in the area.
Recovery after a major wildfire is a long-term process. The first steps involve repairing areas
damaged by fire suppression, and mitigating safety hazards such as fire weakened trees,
burning stump holes, damaged utilities, and hazmat concerns. Many times, regeneration of the
forest can occur naturally over time, but the recent fires have burned so hot, no natural
regeneration occurs.
This planting project includes planting a number of native species including several varieties of
pine, cedar and fir trees. We plant a mix of these conifer saplings, which are 1-2 years old, with
a goal of restoring the diversity of the forest and increasing its resilience to stressors such as
drought, fire, disease and climate change. Trees are planted at the optimal time of year to
ensure long-term survivability, usually in the late spring or fall.

The U.S. National Forest is named for the majestic Giant Sequoia trees which populate 38 distinct groves within the boundaries of the forest.
With the recent proliferation of forest fires in the area, reforestation of these burn scars is essential to prevent erosion enhance water quality, and to create habitat for the many species of wildlife in the area. Recovery after a major wildfire is a long-term process. The first steps involve repairing areas damaged by fire suppression, and mitigating safety hazards such as fire weakened trees, burning stump holes, damaged utilities, and hazmat concerns. Many times, regeneration of the forest can occur naturally over time, but the recent fires have burned so hot, no natural regeneration occurs.
Your planting project includes planting a number of native species including several varieties of pine, cedar and fir trees, and of course, the Giant Sequoia.
