How do I know that my tree will actually be planted?

The Gifted Tree works with well-established tree planting partners on five continents around the world to ensure your tree is planted as promised. These organizations have been doing this for years and have foresters on location to help with the planting of the trees. Some of us at The Gifted Tree have even personally visited the tree planting sites, and we will continue to make and expand our visits.

Will my tree be marked with a personal plaque?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Your tree is planted among thousands of other gift trees and there is no plaque designating your gift tree, but an official register is maintained in our office. Take comfort in the knowledge that while your gift tree is not designated on the ground with a plaque, it does become part of the much larger forest ecosystem.

Can I specify what type of tree I want planted?

While the types of trees planted at a particular project are often listed in the location details, you are not able to designate the type of tree to plant. We leave it up to the professionals on site to determine the best tree to plant to achieve the project’s goals. Silviculturists (scientists who study how to grow trees) decide on the type of tree that will grow best in an area, and the best time of year to plant. The objectives of the silvicultural prescription’s for planting sites include the reintroduction of tree species that were originally in that particular ecosystem in order to improve the resilience and resistance of the forest to fire, insects, diseases, and the potential effects of climate change.

Can I visit my tree?

It is possible to visit most of the tree planting locations, especially those in the United States. Make sure you bring a sturdy pair of hiking boots and be ready for adventure as some projects can be quite large in geographic scope! Please understand that these areas might not be accessible for those that are physically challenged. If your gift tree is planted in a National Forest in the United States, foresters at the ranger district of that forest can guide you to areas where your gift tree plantings are located. If venturing to an area internationally, please contact us to obtain current information.

Can I virtually visit my tree?

Yes! Advanced technology allows one to view the general area of the tree planting site using a personal computer, tablet, or mobile phone. Instructions for obtaining the map links will be sent along with the certificate package.

When will my tree be planted?

Your tree will be planted at the best suitable planting time for each project, which is typically in the location’s spring or fall. Therefore, depending on when your gift tree was purchased, there could be a gap of time until it is actually planted. This is being done to ensure the long-term survival of the trees as well as to accomplish the goals of the project.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping charges vary between $1.95 and $6.95 depending on which gift option you choose. (Of course, delivery is free for our “Need It Now” eCard gift option.) The exact amount is listed on each product page.

How long does it take for the gift to be received?

We ship via the U.S. Postal Service from our Cleveland, Ohio headquarters. Gifts usually go out within 24 hours of receipt (1 business day) and are typically delivered within 2-3 business days.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, but currently our website does not calculate the extra shipping charges to an international location. After receipt of your order, we will contact you and let you know what the shipping surcharge will be. After your approval, we can add that amount onto your credit card charge and process the order. You are welcome to call us at anytime toll-free at 1-800-984-2101 to discuss shipping internationally.

Can I return a gift?

Sorry, unless there is a defect or mistake on our part, the gift can not be returned. Please make sure to check the personalization on the certificate for accuracy before submitting it.

Does anything else come with the gift tree certificate?

Besides the personalized tree certificate, which will be displayed as explained on the gift options page, there will be an explanatory letter talking about your gifted tree, the importance of trees, tree quotes, and a link to find out more about the tree planting location and project. There will also be a unique seed tag included that actually can be planted, and which will sprout wildflowers! Instructions for the seed tag are found at TheGiftedTree.com/PlantMe. This link is also printed on the seed tag.

Can I also include a gift card enclosure?

Yes, that option is available on the order page along with space to type in your personal message.
